Their Story

“ I knew the moment I walked through the gate that Brantwood was the place for me. The spectacular and specific art collection and the lovely decor drew me in on the spot.
The Brantwood population is diverse and fascinating. The bar is a wonderful venue for socializing and sharing ideas. Events and activities are growing and expanding and there is something for everyone.
I think the most wonderful and unexpected part of Brantwood is that in a very short period of time friendships and relationships have evolved. I count myself fortunate to have found Brantwood."

"Brantwood is no ordinary apartment. It's not just the facilities, which are beautiful and secure. Or the staff which is welcoming and diligent. It's the society of the place. Several nights a week many of the residents gather to share stories and civil discussion. It's a friendly and fascinating place to live."
“I think the thing I love most about Brantwood is the community. Whether you’re getting on and off the elevator, in and out of the garage, you see people. Everybody is running around when they have homes or they’re doing stuff, so you don’t really know your neighbors. Someone (here) told us, ‘We know all of you better than we knew the neighbors we lived next to for 20 to 30 years.’
And we’re just so close to so many things. We go to museums, to The Huntington (Library, Art Museums & Botanical Gardens) once a week, to CalTech lectures. You can walk to the movies, to plays, to restaurants. And it’s safe. We feel very safe here.”
We all want to keep busy but we also want to feel like we have a purpose and we’re not just drifting, that we’re using our brains ... (Brantwood) gives us a place to find, ‘What is our purpose.’ Everyone has a different trajectory and a different path, so you learn things from other people here.
Last night there were seven of us on the rooftop. Each went thinking we were going to be alone, the only ones, but we always end up being with someone.”
